are you looking to get creative with clay & learn the basics of pottery?
join me in my home studio in capel st.mary, suffolk (postcode IP9) for a 2-hour private session, tailored for you! this class option is for those who want to try their hand at handbuilding - this encompasses pinch pots, and making with slabs & coils. you can book a single session for an introduction to handbuilding, or multiple sessions to cover more parts of the making process (such as glazing) - with discounts for booking multiple sessions in advance!
'This is one of the best presents I've ever had. I have always wanted to have a go at pottery and was so happy to have had this taster session into it. Lizzie explains everything very clearly which helps when learning the techniques.'

here is an example of what multiple sessions would look like, but classes can be adapted to each individual (for example, if you’d like to make a mug you will only need to book 1 session - but if you’d like to glaze your mug too, you’ll need to book 2 sessions):
session 1: the basics (2 hours)
learning the basics of working with clay & an overview of the making process from start to finish. prepping & wedging clay, and an overview of three handbuilding techniques (pinch, slab & coil).
session 2: adding flair (2 hours)
after an intro session, you will have time to discover more aspects of the making process such as surface decoration (ie carving) and decorating with underglaze. in your second session, you can also opt to develop your handbuilding skills and explore different shapes/sizes.
session 3: adding colour (2 hours)
glaze your own work – choose from a range of glazes, explore wax-resist decoration & handpainting patterns with underglaze.
additional drop-in sessions (2 hours) - bookable here
after your third session, you can book top-up drop-in sessions to further explore & build on the techniques you have learnt. i will be on hand to assist & answer questions, but these additional sessions are largely for you to work on your own personal projects.
