
a creative offering especially for the home ed community, aiming to provide an accessible & affordable way for young people to be introduced to pottery & ceramics, to build their confidence in the craft as well as explore their individual creativity. making with clay doesn’t always have to the same path as others - our processes can differ to achieve the same outcome!
with 2 age guidance groups, sessions are tailored to provide everyone with a creative challenge as well as a safe space to learn & build skills. choose which workshops appeal to your young person/people, or book the whole lot at a discounted cost: £40 per workshop (includes glazing session), or £145 for all 5 workshops!
after the final session, pieces will be covered with a glossy clear glaze & fired in lizzie's kiln - ready to collect within 2 weeks, yours to keep forever!

session 1: friday 17th april | 10am - 12pm | forest, fairy & garden houses
during our first session together we'll be making enchanting forest/fairy/garden houses with clay slabs, using natural & machine-made objects to create texture.

session 2: friday 24th april | 10am - 12pm | creature & character creations
from cute cats to two-headed monsters, this session is designed for participants to sculpt from real life or their own imagination! they will be guided through the basic fundamentals of sculpture & scale, to create & personalise their very own creatures & characters.

session 3: friday 1st may | 10am - 12pm | pottery wheel taster
have a go at throwing a pot on lizzie's portable potters wheel! participants will be guided & supported step-by-step to prepare, shape & refine a small clay pot using an electric pottery wheel. they'll also have a piece of clay to work away on a pinch pot, when others are taking their turn at the wheel.

session 4: friday 8th may | 10am - 12pm | making miniatures
we'll be revisiting our sculpting skills from session 2, on a whole different scale.. starting off with a blank slate (literally - a blank slab of clay!) participants will be creating 'miniscapes' - from miniature household objects to tiny landscapes, the possibilities are endless!

session 5: friday 22nd may | 10am - 1pm | glazing
all works of art made in the previous sessions will have been fired & ready to decorate using a range of colourful underglazes. this is an open-ended session - those who have attended all sessions may take the full 3 hours to decorate their pieces.
please note: this session is included in the cost of your making workshop/s (whether one or all sessions are booked) & must be attended for creations to be completed.
